HomeAbout UsEdge of the Earth Farm is a small family owned and operated farm located on 200 acres in Kettle River, Minnesota. We have been operating since 1990. We specialize in organic produce, farm fresh eggs, pure maple syrup, honey, and free range meats and fowl, including our freshThanksgiving turkeys. Our goal is to provide safe and healthy food in a way that is natural and environmentally friendly.
MissionOur mission is to grow and produce delicious and healthy food organically and offer these products in an open fashion. We aim to protect our corner of the earth by improving and sustaining the health of our land and to raise our animals in a humane manner.
Farm Happenings
The summer has been hot and sticky. Yesterday we got 2.25 inches of rain. Local culverts flooded and some parts of our gardens were turned into muck. We have beautiful chard and kale for sale plus green and yellow beans, beets, and summer squash. We started harvesting our garlic and it looks marvelous!
Due to some equipment malfunctions our syrup production was not what it should have been but we still have a good amount to sell. Give us a call!
New for 2011Melinda and I have decided not to do our CSA this year. What we will be doing is selling our veggies on a bimonthly basis with deliveries to Duluth and Moose Lake. The Farm Orders page of our website will have everything that will be for sale for that period with the prices and delivery date. You can email us your orders for freshly harvested veggies and we'll make the delivery.
Eggs, syrup, chickens, and fresh Thanksgiving turkeys will also be available and can be included in your order. This year there will be a $30.00 deposit to reserve a turkey.
We enjoyed supplying you with our produce these past years and look forward to providing you with fresh vegetables and other farm products in the future.
Thank you very much! Gene & Melinda
"... there is a frightful debauchery that has already been effected by a century of mechanization... take taste in its narrowest sense - the taste for decent food. In the highly mechanized countries, thanks to tinned food, cold storage, synthetic flavouring matters, etc., the palate is almost a dead organ." George Orwell, "The Road to Wigan Pier" 1937 |
